Did you know (I know you didn't but I'll ask anyway) that before dice became gambling implements, they were originally used as magical devices in "sortilege", the casting of lots to divine the future? And you know probable forerunners of dice were knuckle bones, the ankle bones of sheep, which were marked on four faces ... In Arabic, the word for "knuckle bone" is the same as that for dice. Well, I thought I'd tell you; anyway it's interesting. In the next installment will be, "How to always win at craps" ... I prefer chess, must be the Russian genes.
