Buddy Flexes Your Mind with Optical Illusions

These pages on "Optical Illusions" might of necessity take a tad longer to come in, to download. That's because of the graphic nature of them, and graphics, as you know, are slowpokes. But no matter, each one takes a little studying, so the page might wait for you. Now isn't that convenient? This warning will not be repeated.

Oh yeah (before I forget now) most know that when pages download, they can get stuck along the way. Best remedy for that besides cleaning out all those junk files that accumulate in the computer's system is to just click "reload" or "refresh" ... it often helps. You might also note that there are 21 pages with "continue" links (or exit links) on the bottom of each page.

I am also including a menu. It's not really necessary here but old habits die hard, as you know. And it's alphabetized for you; I'm a "little strange" that way.

CAMOUFLAGE

If I didn't tell you, would you know there's a dog lurking there among the rocks?

Camouflage is the art of blending into a similar background ... The image above is an extreme example of figure/ground confusion or camouflage ... And what does this picture show? ... There is a Dalmatian dog in the middle foreground moving towards a dark patch at the upper left ... It's head is low as it sniffs the ground.

CHASING

If you measured both figures, you'd find they are exactly the same size.
Like many of the illusions here ... it has something to do with depth perception.

INSIDE-OUTSIDE

>

Which circles are inside the square? ... Which circles make the square?

PERSPECTIVE

The man in the background, and the little fella in the front, are both the same size.
Measure the two figures ... this is a distortion of perspective.

SPIN DANCER

Now try to figure this out ... Which way is she spinning? ... Do you see her spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise? ... Actually she is spinning both ways ... But you can only see one way at a time ... I find that to see her change direction, concentrate on her reflection on the floor. I also find this particular illusion interesting so here's a larger version of this girl ... See Me Spin ... but twice as large for your viewing.

Now for additional interesting illusions ... Step this way ... more illusions on this background.
Or we might easily return to ... Navigator ... the heart of this website.
