Buddy Flexes Your Mind with Optical Illusions
I apologize Liz, won't happen again ... Step this way ... to the last page; again, sorry Liz. The truth s that it is not easy to be always in the limelight, to be the star of the show. If you want to scratch yourself where you like to scratch yourself, you can't. BEFORE YOU LEAVE A QUICKIE LESSON ON THE ROYAL FAMILY For more information, you too can visit Wikipedia. Does anyone really believe that some families are more "royal" than others? The British Royal Family is the group of close relatives of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The term is also commonly applied to the same group of people as the relations of the monarch in his or her role as sovereign of any of the other Commonwealth realms, thus sometimes at variance with official national terms for the family. Members of the royal family belong to (are born into), or are married into, the House of Windsor, since 1917, when George V changed the name of the royal house from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Although in the United Kingdom there is no strict legal or formal definition of who is or is not a member of the Royal Family, and different lists will include different people, those carrying the style His or Her Majesty (HM), or His or Her Royal Highness (HRH) are always considered members, which usually results in the application of the term to the monarch, the consort of the monarch, the widowed consorts of previous monarchs, the children of the monarch, the male-line grandchildren of the monarch, and the spouses and the widowed spouses of a monarch's son and male-line grandsons. Members and relatives of the British Royal Family historically represented the monarch in various places throughout the British Empire, sometimes for extended periods as viceroys, or for specific ceremonies or events. Today, they often perform ceremonial and social duties throughout the United Kingdom and abroad on behalf of the UK, but, aside from the monarch, have no constitutional role in the affairs of government. This is the same for the other realms of the Commonwealth though the family there acts on behalf of, is funded by, and represents the sovereign of that particular state, and not the United Kingdom. Back to my opinions, I know that the British are an intelligent people. So I can never fully understand (other than for purely monetary purposes like tourism) that they put up with the nonsense of royalty. Wouldn't you think there are more important concerns they could have like solving social problems that all modern societies have rather than bowing and curtsying to others in their society who are made of the same flesh and blood (oh yeah, royal blood; all together now, YEAH RIGHT). I read in the NY Times (or Time magazine) that when the queen travels, hotels are required to give her a new toilet seat (hope that's not too vulgar in royal company) on her commode. And her towels have to be washed three times and ironed. We'll just watch how the British continue with their royal nonsense. It's their money, their time, their reputation, their royalty. Only thing not theirs is the toilet seat. If you don't agree, you are welcome to my ... email address ... and let me know where I am mistaken. And finally, we arrive at the ... last page ... hope you enjoyed the tour. |
